I'm sure that those of you who have tried to take family pictures with kids, will admit to wanting to throw your kids halfway through the process. Having kids definitely complicates the picture taking process.
Once upon a time, my Mom decided we needed to take family pictures before my brother goes on his mission. (He's going to the Johannesburg, South Africa Mission,) She said that we were going to meet at Mueller Park to take them. I'd never been to Mueller park, and needed to get directions from my Mom. This is how my Mom gives directions . . .
"Well you know the street that goes up to the Bountiful Temple? Just follow that road and then it will curve around, you go over a little hill and then take a right. You keep going till you hit Mueller park." (Love you Mom)
That was the first issue, the second was that my Mom failed to mention that Mueller Park isn't really a park, it's a camping ground with steep roads leading into the park. This wouldn't really have been a problem, but anticipating pictures, I had worn 4 inch heels. (Love you Mom)
Once we got to the spot that we were going to take pictures, the kids starting getting restless, and we were still waiting for my brother. (Love you Aaron)
We got the pictures done, and since we took about 35 family photos, there were 2 or 3 where someone wasn't making a weird face, or blinking and there was even one where my Dad looked like he was pulling back to punch my Mom. How does that happen?
It was a sweaty, annoying bees, and patience trying process, but we got some really good pictures. Just remember that if you're trying to get pictures, shaking the baby won't make them quiet, it will just get you arrested. Instead, put your hand over their mouth till they pass out from the lack of oxygen. :)
